Bad Bunny Breaks Record for Highest-Grossing Tour in a Calendar Year with $435M

Bad Bunny is now the all-time top-grossing touring artiste in a calendar year after ending his “World’s Hottest Tour” at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City on December 9 and 10. According to Pollstar, which cited box office reports, the last two performances grossed more than $10.5 million, bringing the Puerto Rican rapper’s total tour earnings for the calendar year to $435,388,660.

Previously, the record for the all-time highest-grossing tour in a calendar year was held by Ed Sheeran with his “Divide Tour.” The English singer/songwriter achieved a massive $432.4 million in 2018, topping Pollstar’s 2018 Year-End Worldwide Top 100 chart.

Bad Bunny, born Benito Antonio Martnez Ocasio, performed 81 concerts across two tours this year. He performed on his “El Último Tour Del Mundo Tour” from February to April, earning $113 million and selling 574K tickets.

The 28-year-old embarked on his “World’s Hottest Tour” inside stadiums in August and made $5,375,168 on average per night from the sale of 2,478,796 tickets. Live Nation promoted the tour, and the SVP of Global Touring at Live Nation, Hans Schafer, told Pollstar that everyone felt proud of the artiste’s accomplishment.

“To see an artist of his age reaching those heights is just something that makes it very promising for us, of what the future holds,” Hans said.

Bad Bunny is also the most streamed artiste on Spotify and Apple Music in 2022. According to MBW, Apple Music crowned Bad Bunny “Artist of the Year” in November and reported that he is the biggest Latin artiste of all time by streams worldwide on the platform.
