The first round of voting for the Local Government Election kicked off this week, with special service electors heading to the polls on Thursday.

As the rest of Jamaica prepares for election day on Monday, the PNP and the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) are still trying to acquire as much support as they can.

Ahead of election day, the PNP has once again landed the support of one of the country’s dominant entertainers, Beenie Man.

In a video circulating online, the artiste can be seen proudly rocking an orange campaign shirt in support of the PNP councillor candidate for the Gordon Town Division in St. Andrew, Michael Simms.

Beenie Man was seemingly entertaining PNP supporters during a campaign event, similar to his previous performances for the PNP under the leadership of Portia Simpson-Miller and Peter Phillips.

In another video, Beenie Man, who is seemingly not a valid voting constituent in Simms’ division, proclaims that even though he does not have a vote in the upcoming election, Simms has his support. The Deejay also encouraged all PNP supporters to go out and vote on election day.

Beenie Man previously dated the former President of the PNP’s Youth Organisation, Krystal Tomlinson, and has also extended his support to the party on previous occasions.

Back in 2023, fellow entertainer Buju Banton shocked and dumbfounded many of his fans as he appeared at the annual People National Party (PNP) conference in Kingston.

The Gargamel, dressed in the bright orange colours of the PNP, graced the stage at the event briefly, to much fanfare and amazement, showing his support as the national elections draw near.
