Dancehall artiste Busy Signal was deemed a risk of not returning to his home country following a visa refusal from Canada. On Friday, he appealed to the Jamaican Government, describing the decision as an “injustice, prejudice, and racist.”

According to the entertainer, he had planned to surprise his fans with a concert, but unfortunately, he had to share this disappointing news instead.

In a document shared on Busy Signal’s Instagram, he posted his refusal letter from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The reasons for the refusal were outlined: the immigration official was not satisfied that Busy Signal would leave Canada at the end of his stay.

The document also noted that the purpose of his visit was inconsistent with the conditions of a temporary stay.

The entertainer also highlighted his strong business record, clean police record, and valid visas from the UK, USA, and Europe. He believes the denial he received is unjust and is now calling on his country’s support to address the issue.

– “As a globally recognized Jamaican artist with an impeccable business track record, no current police record of any sort from any country, with active visas from the U.K., the U.S.A. and Europe, I am calling on my country’s authorities for support in addressing the injustice, prejudice, and racist response I received when the Canadian High Commission/ Embassy denied my visa application, citing that I would not leave Canada.”
