Drake and 21 Savage’s “Her Loss” Album Postponed After Producer Contracts Coronavirus

A few days after the announcement of their joint album, Her Loss, rappers Drake and 21 Savage have notified fans that the album’s release has been postponed due to producer Noah Shebib’s contraction of COVID-19.

Drake and Savage have collaborated a number of times in the past, with Savage appearing on Drake’s album Certified Lover Boy on the track Knife Talk and his single Sneakin’ in 2016. Drake was featured on the song Mr. Right Now from Savage’s Savage Mode II collab album with Metro Boomin. The pair announced their latest collaboration, Her Loss, a surprise album on Saturday in the music video for their single Jimmy CooksJimmy Cooks was released in June on Drake’s album Honestly, Nevermind and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The album was slated for release on October 28, but in an Instagram story on Drake’s page, it was revealed that the album’s release would be pushed back to November, as the project’s producer, Shebib, also known as 40, had COVID.

“Our brother @ovo40 got Covid while mixing and mastering the crack so he’s resting up and NOVEMBER 4th is HER LOSS day we’ll see you soon.”

Shebib has produced for Drake for years, and the pair, along with Oliver El-Khatib, founded the Toronto-based Canadian record label OVO Sound in 2012.
