Entertainers from the music fraternity such as Spragga Benz, Little Hero, Mr Lexx and Don Mafia paid their final respects at the funeral of Leonard “Merciless” Bartley on Saturday at the St Gabriel’s Anglican Church Hall on Church Street in May Pen, Clarendon.
First to take the stage was Spragga Benz who gave an emotional tribute and revealed that during one of the darkest periods of his life, Merciless was there providing much-needed support. He also recited the words from one of his songs titled, “Sleep With Angels“.
Following was Reggae singer Little Hero who referred to Merciless as being a “brother” in music, while also sharing some experiences with him. He ended his commentary with a song tribute.
Overwhelmed by a myriad of emotions, Dancehall artiste Mr Lexx was unable to form full sentences as he tried to speak. He, however, noted that Merciless favourite song was one of his hit tracks titled, “Full Hundred” to which he briefly sang.
Ending the segment was Don Mafia who rocked the altar with a tearful song tribute while expressing his undying love for Merciless as a friend.
