In the chat with Kshema Francis on IRIE FM, published on January 23, 2025, the outspoken selector who now lives in the USA also recalled how he met Bounty Killer and how he got his big break on the Fully-Loaded show, the second year he performed on the show.

Despite covering several topics, one of the main topics of discussion is his longtime association with Mavado and whether there is any possibility of them reuniting. As per Foota, he is open to a friendship with the Gully Side deejay and recalled the last time they reunited after a fallout.

Foota states that the last time they reunited was because he contacted Mavado to talk to him about his son Dantay being in the wrong circle. Foota Hype stated that he told Mavado “Mi si your son among my cousin and mi nuh like that because mi know my cousin a demon.”

According to Foota, they returned to talking ways after 8 years when they had that conversation, however, the friendship did not last for long. The selector recounted being booked by Mavado for a Gully Side show inside Amazura in New York.

Foota Hype admitted that the show did not get a full turnout, “The show neva ram… you know seh Mavado, i don’t even get a dollar coin,” says Foota as he declares that he was not paid for his work done at the show. As per Foota Hype, that was the reason for the last time they stopped talking after their previous 8-year-long fallout.

He went on to give reasons why he believes that he was instrumental in Mavado’s international success, stating that he was integral in Mavado’s signing to VP Records and not Greensleeves. Foota states that he did not get anything out of the deal after learning that Mavado signed the deal that he had helped to put together.

“A me buss him” Foota Hype stated at one point in the interview, following up on his previous remarks made years ago that he’s the one that brought Mavado to the forefront hence he believes that he should be compensated. He also expressed that Mavado’s career has not been the same since their fallout.
