The hearing for the release of Dancehall artiste Adidja Palmer, professionally known as Vybz Kartel, and his co-accused commenced on Wednesday and is currently underway at the Supreme Court.
Kartel and his co-appellants Shawn ‘Shawn Storm’ Campbell, Andre St. John, and Kahira Jones won their appeal in the United Kingdom Privy Council earlier this year.
The March ruling overturned the men’s conviction for the 2011 murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams.
Following the ruling, attorneys representing Kartel, Cambell, and St. John filed a habeas corpus application on behalf of the three men earlier this month.
The application hearing seeking their release was adjourned on May 13 due to insufficient time and resumed today. According to Irie FM, the hearing is expected to continue tomorrow.
Jones, who has not filed a habeas corpus application, is reportedly engaged in a separate legal matter.
