Isat Buchanan Ready For Vybz Kartel’s Appeal After Month-Long Stay In The UK

Isat Buchanan, the attorney-at-law representing Adidja Palmer, more popularly known as Vybz Kartel, has returned from a month-long stay in London, England where he has been preparing for the entertainer’s upcoming appeal with the UK Privy Council.

According to reports, Buchanan is working collaboratively with UK-based lawyers to appeal Vybz Kartel’s life imprisonment murder conviction. A team of experts is also working to have new evidence ready to substantiate the appeal.

In an exclusive interview on Fox 5 News last year, Buchanan spoke with Lisa Evers in which he provided detailed information highlighting the inconsistencies in his client’s case.

He noted that the primary evidence such as the eyewitness testimony by Lamar “Wee” Chow and the digital evidence presented by the prosecution were tampered with and falsified. He added that a thorough investigation was done afterwards by David-John Martin Woodgate of UK-based Forint Digital Investigations, which proves Vybz Kartel’s innocence.

Based on this, the attorney believes that the murder conviction is unjust and his client should be exonerated from the crimes. He is confident that upon submission of new evidence to the UK Privy Council, freedom will prevail for Vybz Kartel.

Adidja Palmer and his three co-accused, Andre St. John, Shawn Storm and Kahira Jones were sentenced by Justice Lennox Campbell to life imprisonment on April 3, 2014, for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams.

Though the body of the victim was never found, Kartel was initially given 35 years before being eligible for parole, however, due to an appeal in 2020, it was reduced to 32 years and six months.

Andre St John was sentenced to 30 years before being eligible for parole but was reduced to 27 years and six months. Shawn Storm and Kahira Jones were sentenced to 25 years before being eligible, but reduced to 22 years and six months.
