However, 2024 breakout sprint star Kishane Thompson is set to make his first appearance at the championships this year.

All eyes will be on the young athlete to see if he will claim the title for Jamaica for the first time in history.

Thompson made waves in the athletic world last year with his outstanding performances on the track in Jamaica and at the Olympics.

After narrowly missing out on claiming his first 100m Olympic gold, Thompson returned to the track with a 6.48 seconds 2025 season opener in the 60m in Spanish Town, Jamaica.

He went on to clock 6.58s to win the 60m finals at the Stana Indoor Meet in Kazakhstan in January.

The World Indoor Championships will take place from March 21-23 in Nanjing, China.

American sprinter Christian Coleman claimed last year’s championship title with a 6.41s win ahead of Noah Lyles.
