In a lengthy statement issued by the Jamaica Constabulary Force on Friday, they announced and confirmed the arrest of self-entitled Emperor LA Lewis after he filmed himself breaking a toll in St. Cathrine.
The social media star recently went viral for filming himself breaking through a toll as he uttered the words, “So people me a go through the tag line people and a di emperor yuh understand, so me do so now boom and me run through the tag line people and a it that people.”
A part of the JCF statement shared on their Instagram account states, “The Jamaica Constabulary Force would like to inform the public that Horace ‘LA’ Lewis was arrested by officers from the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch (PSTEB). Mr. Lewis, who is known in the entertainment industry, is facing charges related to breaches of the Toll Authority Act.”
A video showing LA Lewis being taken out of the back of a police jeep in handcuffs by officers was also released as the video persisted; it showed the social media personality sitting in a police station without any handcuffs this time. The person who seems to be recording the video could be heard saying, “Alright, show the fans again”.
La Lewis was quizzed in the video by an unidentified man who asked him if he was put in handcuffs, to which La Lewis replied, “Yeah dem put me inna handcuff man,” the man then resorted to jeering La Lewis by stating, “The big emperor, no man, no man the emperor?”
As the video drew to a close, La Lewis explained why he didn’t resist the police. “Remember now what the police them … the police them do dem due process you understand, cause you can’t violate the police.”
As a result of his action, LA Lewis is now facing charges of breaching the toll and will appear in court to answer the charges. He will likely remain in custody until the weekend has passed.
