Vybz Kartel’s fiancé, Sidem Öztürk, has become a fixture in the media following the deejay’s release from prison, yet not much is known about the Turkish native.
For several years, Kartel was well-known for a different relationship, as his tumultuous time with his ex-girlfriend Tanesha ‘Shorty’ Johnson was well known. Their relationship was further publicised as Kartel continuously highlighted her in his music, but the pair later split, thus opening the door to his relationship with Sidem.
The thirty-four-year-old was born in Turkey before later moving to the United Kingdom with her family when she was still very young. After migrating to England, Sidem, who is of Kurdish descent, lived in the country’s capital city, London, for over 29 years.
In regard to her university education, she studied psychology and dabbled a bit in sociology and philosophy. She went on to become a social worker and began working with the vulnerable.
However, Sidem gave up her life in England to move to Jamaica and be closer to Kartel, who had been incarcerated when they met. She shared in an interview with Urban Islandz in 2022 that she had been drawn to Kartel long before they ever met and, like his fans, was obsessed with his music.
Before meeting Kartel in 2015, Sidem had already desired to marry the artiste and described the bond and relationship they developed during his imprisonment as a dream come true. To the surprise of many, the couple confirmed their engagement in 2022 and maintained their relationship throughout the remainder of his incarceration.
Kartel is now almost never spotted without Sidem by his side after his release. She has been praised by Kartel fans for sticking by the ‘Summer Time‘ deejay throughout the years.
Despite her newfound popularity on social media, Sidem maintains a reserved personality. As much of her life and relationship with Kartel remains a mystery, interest and speculation continue to surround her and the deejay.
Sidem Öztürk is not known to have any kids, on the other hand, Vybz Kartel is known to have several kids via multiple relationships. On his last day in St Vincent and The Grenadines he joked about Sidem being pregnant, saying, “Gaza Nation mi affi tell unuh wah gwaan, mi fiancee pregnant right now but a di badmind people dem a carry the belly.”
