Leon Bailey to Become One of the Highest Earners at Aston Villa if Signs New Contract

Following an exceptional turnaround at the end of 2023, Jamaican Reggae Boy Leon Bailey is on his way to becoming one of the top earners at Aston Villa when contract talks between the English club and the player commence.

Bailey was instrumental in Villa’s impressive second-place status in the league at the end of 2023 with 42 points in the English Premier League standings, behind Liverpool with 45. The winger netted the opener for the club’s final Premier League game in December against Burnley after scoring their winning goal against Manchester City earlier that month.

After his consistency on the field, reports are now predicting that Bailey is set to receive a substantial reward, which will vastly elevate his status at Villa. The team’s renewed confidence in the 26-year-old is exceedingly different from the uncertainty that hung over his career last summer.

Villa was reportedly greatly disappointed in Bailey’s inconsistent and lacklustre performances and considered replacing him during the summer transfer window. However, Bailey is set for contract talks at Villa, and it is expected that fresh terms will be discussed in regards to the initial four-year deal he signed with the club in 2021.

The contract, which is speculated to include options for an extension, came with an estimated £25 million payday. The new terms are expected to see Bailey elevated closer to Villa’s highest-paid players, such as Moussa Diaby, Tyrone Mings, and Emiliano Martinez, whose contract is estimated to be worth £37,440,000.

After Steven Gerrard’s exit from Villa in 2022, multiple players have enjoyed large pay raises since the arrival of manager Unai Emery.

According to spotrac.com, Leon Bailey’s last contract was worth £20,800,000 with an annual average salary of £5,200,000.
