Jamaican artiste Shenseea, born Chinsea Lee, has secured a feature on the soundtrack for the newly released animated movie Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, as she continues to expand her reach to music fans globally.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the first installment in the Spider-Verse movie franchise, was released in 2018 with a modern hip-hop/pop soundtrack featuring multiple artistes, such as Jaden Smith, Lil Wayne, XXXTentacion, Post Malone, and Swae Lee. Its successor, Across the Spider-Verse, has likewise turned to several established and on-the-rise artistes to create a soundtrack as vibrant and enjoyable as the film.
Shenseea teased her involvement with the project on Thursday, sharing a few photos from her appearance at the film’s world premiere. The Love I Got For U singer’s feature on the soundtrack was announced on Monday, with the single Infamous (Spider-Verse remix) featuring reggaeton singer Myke Towers officially released as a part of the deluxe version of the soundtrack.
The track infuses the genres of Dancehall and Reggaeton, with Shenseea singing the first verse and Towers appearing in the second. Infamous’ bridge features a sample from the 1990 track Broader than Broadway by veteran Jamaican Reggae/Dancehall artiste Barrington Levy.
Shenseea announced the song’s release on Instagram, sharing a clip from the track and a customised promotional Spider-Man-themed graphic of her rocking the Spider-Man suit. The artiste’s co-manager, Romeich Major, hailed her latest achievement in an Instagram post, writing, “Keep working shen slow and deadly!!!”
