A dispute that escalated into a physical altercation on a little league football field yesterday in Lancaster, Texas led to the coach being gunned down. The deceased was identified to be Mike Hickmon, coach for the South East Dallas Wolverines.
According to reports, there was a conflict on the field during a youth football game for children, which soon resulted in shots being fired during the altercation. It is alleged that the attacker is a former NFL player and North Dallas United coach, Yaqub Talib.
A video of the tragedy surfaced online which showed an argument on the field, whereby a referee seemingly tried to intervene. As it continued, a fight broke out within a group of people, and soon after, multiple gunshots were heard. The crowd began scampering away.
Reports state that the police responded to a call about gunfire in a field behind the recreation centre between Wintergreen and Jefferson Street. Upon arrival, they discovered a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Hickmon was rushed to the local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
