Sending his father posthumous birthday wishes, Dancehall artiste Mavado, born David Brooks, shared a throwback photo of the deceased Brooks family patriarch.
Mavado lost his mother, Elizabeth ‘Ms. Pinny’ Gordon, in March 2021, but over a decade before her sudden passing, the Cassava Piece native was first thrust into mourning after his father was killed in Switzerland.
The artiste shared the immense sorrow that consumed his life after his father’s murder in his single Sadness, which was featured on his album Gangsta for Life: The Symphony of David Brooks.
On Friday, Mavado wished his father a posthumous happy birthday, sharing an old photograph of the Rastafarian dressed in a striped shirt and khaki pants.
Reacting to Mavado’s post on Instagram, the So Special deejay’s sister, Joey Brooks, said their father would forever be her king and expressed that she missed him.
Joey also shared a throwback photograph of their father.
