Mavado lost his mother, Elizabeth ‘Ms. Pinny’ Gordon, in March 2021, but over a decade before her sudden passing, the Cassava Piece native was first thrust into mourning after his father was killed in Switzerland.

The artiste shared the immense sorrow that consumed his life after his father’s murder in his single Sadness, which was featured on his album Gangsta for Life: The Symphony of David Brooks.

On Friday, Mavado wished his father a posthumous happy birthday, sharing an old photograph of the Rastafarian dressed in a striped shirt and khaki pants.
