Following Tory Lanez’s guilty verdict on December 23, an audio of a prison conversation allegedly between the Canadian rapper and the ex-best friend of Megan Thee Stallion has been leaked on the internet. During the leaked conversation, Lanez seemingly stops short of admitting to shooting Megan.
Lanez was accused of shooting fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion in July 2020. A Los Angeles jury went on to find the rapper guilty on the charges of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. Lanez maintained his innocence throughout the trial, and after the verdict, his family deemed the court system corrupt.
Reports state that the recently leaked audio was allegedly played during Lanez’s trial and is a recording of the rapper during his initial arrest at the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) jail after the shooting.
In the recording, Lanez asks if Nicole and Megan are okay, and Nicole informs the artiste that Megan is in the hospital. Lanez states that he knows that Megan will never forgive him, though he does not say why. He explained that he was extremely drunk and would never have behaved that way if he was sober.
“I didn’t even know what the fk was going on [ … ] I’d never do some shit like that bro. It’s just that, nga, I was so f**king drunk,” Lanez stated.
The 30-year-old added that he knows that his being drunk during the incident will not make a difference.
“Regardless, that’s not gonna make anything right. That’s not gonna make my actions right.”
Lanez apologized to Nicole, expressing that it was too late to take back what he did, and added that the moment he arrived at the house, people started giving him alcohol. Nicole then admits that she was also inebriated.
Lanez eventually tells Nicole to get him bailed out, and after she informs him that the incident is already in the media, Lanez says that he is the only one who will receive backlash.
