Reggae Girlz captain Khadija Shaw has been named the Barclays Women’s Super League (WSL) Player of the Month for October.

Shaw, who is currently in her second season with Manchester City, displayed stunning performances in the club’s Champions League qualification battle and came out on top of the voting poll for player of the month on November 10 following the end of voting on the 7th. Procuring five goals and one assist, Shaw was instrumental in Man City’s three consecutive wins against Liverpool, Leicester, and Tottenham last month. The 25-year-old scored the opening goals in all three matches, the first against Leicester in their initial match in October. Shaw scored two of City’s four goals against Leicester and went on to repeat that performance in their match against Tottenham, which closed at 3-1. The forward secured one of Man City’s two crucial goals that saw them edge out ahead of Liverpool in their WSL clash on October 30 and is the current leading scorer in this season’s WSL.

Speaking on her recent win, Shaw expressed that her team’s success was her utmost priority and that she would continue to work on her form to stay on par with the club’s current performance level. In an Instagram post on Thursday, Shaw thanked those who had helped her attain her latest achievement.

“Happy to win the Barclays Player of the month. Thanks to my teammates, staff and to everyone who helped to make this possible,” Shaw stated.
