Yushaine Morgan, attorney-at-law, spoke with Dancehall Mag (who was unable to get a hold of the artiste’s current legal representative) and stated, “I am not her counsel at the Circuit Court. This is the first time the matter will be coming before the Circuit Court, and see how ready the Crown is to proceed and what is the status of the file.”

Previously, it was announced that Sevana would answer to the charges on a trial that was scheduled for October 31, which was a date set by Judge Steve Walters earlier in the year at the Westmoreland Circuit Court where the singer was extended a fine of $400,000 bail minus any additional conditions.

Her representing attorney for the trial at the time was Yushaine Morgan and he had petitioned for his client to be authorized to travel without any limitations in order to enable her career.

The Bit Too Shy singer, who is currently 30 years old, was charged after the vehicular incident happened in May 2021. She was whizzing along the Scott Cove main road in Whitehouse, Westmoreland, when her Honda City car crashed into a Honda Fit that was travelling in the opposite direction of the entertainer. The owner of the car with which she collided, Ordia Cordiel, suffered multiple severe afflictions and was later admitted to the Black River Hospital. She succumbed to her injuries on Monday, May 30, 2021.

The report by the police declared that Sevana had just recently received her license a week before the accident on May 17. She was charged with death by dangerous driving on Tuesday, June 1, 2021.

Sevana, a former member of Reggae singer Protoje’s In.Digg.Nation is more popularly known for her songs, If You Only Knew, Man Down, and Mango. Her career was significantly enhanced after her single Mango was licensed to be implemented as a part of the soundtrack for Big Sky, a TV show which is aired on the ABC channel.

Protoje’s In.Digg.Nation Collective signed with Six Course and RCA Records in 2020 so that he could support Sevana, Lila Iké, himself, and also Jaz Elise who was only later added to the partnership.

In May, Sevana ended her collaboration with the label In.Digg.Nation, and Protoje’s management company.

Five years imprisonment at hard labour is the maximum amount of time that one can serve as a penalty for being charged with death by dangerous driving.
