St. Lucian singer and former associate of Vybz Kartel, Mon Cherie took aim at Rihanna in a series of social media posts this week, accusing the Barbadian singer of trying to interfere with her career.
On Tuesday, the artiste took to Instagram and Facebook to call out Rihanna, accusing the Umbrella singer of bullying her musically and psychologically. According to Mon Cherie, Rihanna has always viewed her as competition and suggested that she intentionally released her album Anti weeks after her single Gates of Heaven with Kartel was released.
“She released her album #anti weeks after #vybzkartel & I dropped #gatesofheaven What are the odds? (Jan 2016) She can’t see another Caribbean female shine! Rihanna, I been dethroned you musically and there is nothing you or ROC Nation can do about it!” Mon Cherie wrote.

Mon Cherie’s new tirade against Rihanna seemingly began on Sunday, with the artiste bashing Rihanna in an Instagram post shared with her over 78,000 followers. Mon Cherie said she was the inventor of Caribbean Pop and that Rihanna was inspired by her and Kartel’s single Bay Bay, which led to her creating Work with Drake.
The singer, born Cherie Stoute, said that despite Rihanna’s vast wealth, she is still provoked by her music.
“Let’s NOT pretend Rihanna that you do not know who I am and even with all your billions I provoke you musically. No one cares about #Shenseea the so called “Dancehall Pop Princess,” that you endorse so bad, but let’s be honest #shenseea came after me NOT you!! I probably inspired her more than you So let’s just make it public Rihanna #gatesofheaven & #euphoria killing your whole bomboc***t catalog because you were never a really good singer
.”

In another post shared that day on Instagram and Facebook, Mon Cherie advised Rihanna to continue prioritising her Fenty company, as she was never on her level as a musician. The Euphoria singer also accused Rihanna of blackballing her and said that she should be grateful to Jay Z.
Rihanna is signed to Jay-Z’s entertainment company Roc Nation.

In a video shared on Monday, Mon Cherie once again declared that she is better than Rihanna and criticised the Diamonds singer for not helping her fellow Caribbean artistes. Additionally, Mon Cherie called out event promoter and artiste manager Romeich Major for modelling Shenseea’s career after her.
“ROMIECH you’ll learn one day I was never the one to play with, you saw me and wanted a Jamaican version of me…. Then y’all wanna pay homage to Rihanna? Pon de replay was never a good song!” Mon Cherie wrote in the video’s caption.
This is not the first time Mon Cherie has called out her music industry peers. Over the past two years, she has lashed out at Kartel online on multiple occasions.
Though their business relationship has soured, Mon Cherie’s most viewed song on YouTube remains her collaboration with Kartel, Can’t Say No, with over 478,000 views.
