Rihanna Promises Big Superbowl Performance, talks Motherhood, Fenty and Return to Music

Rihanna has thought a lot about stepping back into the spotlight of the music industry after becoming the mother of a baby boy (who is being kept out of the public eye), and once said, “If I’m going to leave my baby, I’m going to leave my baby for something special.” This “something special” is the upcoming 2023 Super Bowl halftime show which Rihanna tweeted about headlining next year.

The name of Rihanna’s son, who she has with rapper A$AP Rocky, along with pictures of the newborn, have not been released to the public. The singer stated that this was not due to any major personal reasons, “we just didn’t get around to it yet, really. We’ve just been living. But, I guess there’s a certain freedom that comes with kind of just like getting it out there.”

Making a statement that if she does not return to the industry now, she would never do it, she gave more details about her future Super Bowl performance in a recent interview she did prior to her Savage X Fenty Show Vol 4. “It was a challenge that I welcomed. It was a stage bigger than anything I’ve ever done,” she mentioned.

The NFL announcement sparked rumours of a new album from the artiste who had released her last album in 2016 entitled, “ANTI”. There have been no confirmed reports of a new album, in fact, Rihanna commented, “That’s not true. Super Bowl is one thing. New music is another thing. Do you hear that, fans?” She also released her first solo song in six years of no music in the form of Lift Me Up from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The song was released on Friday, October 28, 2022.

However, continuing, the pop star also stated, thinking back to when she shared the news, “the second that I announced this, I said, ‘Oh, my God, they’re going to think my album is coming. I need to get to work.”

Other than getting used to being a mother, Rihanna also has her hands full with her lingerie brand by trying to top Vol 3 of her Savage X Fenty line with Vol 4. Not only did Vol 3 of the show include many influential stars, but it also earned the Barbadian beauty an Emmy award.

Speaking about the fashion showcase, Rihanna voiced, “it’s always challenging to beat the one before. Next year is going to actually be the main challenge because this year was such a huge scale of a show and I don’t know how we’re going to beat it, but we’re going to have to try.” Savage X Fenty Show Vol 4 will become available on Amazon Prime Video on Wednesday, November 9.

Stars slated to participate in Rihanna’s upcoming Savage X Fenty showcase include Johnny Depp, which sources leaked would be a part of the celebrity lineup. Many, disappointed to hear that he would be included, demanded a boycott of the line because of the previous legal battle between Depp and his ,ex-wife Amber Heard. A host of other stars featured in the show are Taraji P Henson, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Cara Delevingne, and performances by Maxwell and Anitta among others.
