Five-time 100m Olympic champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce disclosed that she is putting down her mantle for the 200m event.
At the end of the finals of the 200m race on Thursday night, July 21, Fraser-Pryce recounted the adrenaline-fueled moment at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Oregon, USA.
She stated that having been placed in Lane 6, she was confident that she was going to do an impressive run around the bend, however, much to her surprise, she saw Shericka Jackson sweeping the field and ultimately soaring past all competitors to cross the finish line and secure the win.
“Nobody cya get me run another 200, no sah, it dat,” she said while laughing.
Shericka Jackson won the 200m finals with a time of 21.45 seconds, followed by Fraser-Pryce in 21.81 seconds, both securing gold and silver medals, respectively. Dina Asher-Smith of Great Britain secured the bronze medal with a time of 22.02 seconds.
