Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce’s Pocket Rocket Foundation Celebrates 10 Years of Success

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce Pocket Rocket Foundation, a momentous moment for Jamaica’s distinguished Olympic medallist who stood proud at the AC Hotel in Kingston celebrating with the theme, “Decade of Difference.”

Notably a significant achievement for Fraser-Pryce, she beamed with pride as she recalled the accomplishments throughout the Foundation’s decade-long tenure. Since its inception in 2013, a total of 73 deserving student-athletes have benefited from life-changing scholarship opportunities.

Fraser-Pryce’s drive for service comes from her passion for helping children, as well as, the ability to use her platform to effect change for young Jamaicans as she once faced similar experiences in her youth. She strives to make an invaluable impact on communities and to help persons realize their full potential.

“When I look at the recipients year after year, I see me. I see who I was in them and who they’re gonna become. And they’re seated here today and 73 student-athletes over the 10 years is just remarkable for me to have seen a lot of you transcend so many different things,” are some of the powerful words Fraser-Pryce said during her speech on Sunday.

During the ceremony, Fraser-Pryce thanked the sponsors and partners for their commitment to making the Pocket Rocket Foundation a success throughout the years. She also penned a heartfelt message to social media expressing her gratitude for the support she has been given.

“I want to show them that we can choose something different… I want them to see good things… What’s cool is being in an environment that they can learn and they can transcend and they are equipped to become leaders for the next generation,” Fraser-Pryce expressed.
