Diamond League champion Shericka Jackson finished fourth in the 2023 60m World Indoor Tour final on Saturday in Birmingham.

No stranger to the 400 meters, Jackson opened her 2023 season with a win over the distance at the Queen’s/Grace Jackson meet in January. However, the Olympian was unable to maintain her dominance in the much shorter 60m dash at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston on February 4, finishing fifth in her heat in 7.34 seconds.

Today’s final saw Jackson up against stiff competition, with Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith and Daryll Neita also slated to compete in the 60m. Jackson, who has a personal best of 7.04 seconds, qualified in her heat with a time of 7.23 seconds, finishing behind Neita, who clocked in at 7.14 seconds.

Jackson went on to lower her season’s best, but her time of 7.18 seconds proved insufficient against Asher-Smith’s 7.05 win. The 28-year-old finished ahead of fellow Jamaican sprinter Natasha Morrison, who clocked in at 7.24 to place fifth. American sprinter Destiny Barnett-Smith finished third with a time of 7.15 seconds behind Neita, Britain’s current indoor champion, who secured second in 7.13 seconds.
