Shericka Jackson has Reportedly Withdrawn from Suzhou Diamond League

Following multiple delays to her 2024 athletic season, track and field standout Shericka Jackson has reportedly withdrawn from the upcoming Suzhou Dimond League meet set for Saturday, April 27, 2024.

Jackson is a two-time 200m world champion and the reigning 200m Diamond League champion, following her second consecutive victory over the distance in 2023. The Jamaican was scheduled to face off with American sprinting rival Sha’Carri Richardson in the 200m in Suzhou, China.

However, Jackson has reportedly withdrawn from the track meet. The event was highly anticipated, as the track star has not yet made her season debut ahead of the Paris Olympic Games.

The news was shared by Owen M on X, early Tuesday, April 16.

Jackson has not yet confirmed the withdrawal, which would be the fourth delay to her season. She previously withdrew from the Miramar Invitational earlier this month for undisclosed reasons, but the president of MVP Track Club, Bruce James, said it was done in her best interest.

Following reports of yet another delay to Jackson’s season opener, fans of the athlete have expressed concern as suspicion arises that the sprinter may be battling an injury.

“Seriously what’s going on with jako is she hurt?” one fan asked, while another expressed hope that her team was being cautious. “Hopefully just being v cautious rather than a serious injury,” the fan wrote.
