Jackson opened her indoor season with the women’s 60m race at the Queen’s/Grace Jackson Development meet at the National Stadium in Kingston.

Jackson had a slow start and was in third place about midway through the race until striding into second place. The sprinter, who eased up at the finish line, placed second in 7.18s.

Sharing a photo of herself donning the Jamaican colours, the Olympic gold medallist expressed optimism in a series of hashtags.

“#PowerfulSeason#TheReturnOfABeast#1Jacko#OneStepATATime#WeMove,” Jackson wrote.

Despite journeying to Paris last year for the Olympics, Jackson was unable to participate as she continued to struggle with an injury she sustained on July 9th at the Gyulai István Memorial in Hungary.

Saturday’s race was her first since the injury.
