Stefflon Don Talks Being The Biggest Female Artiste That Does Dancehall – Watch Interview
British rapper Stephanie Allen, known as Stefflon Don, is recognized as the biggest female artiste who does dancehall, and she has been praised as the UK version of Nicki Minaj. The 30-year-old artiste, born to Jamaican parents in the United Kingdom, has reached many successful milestones in her life, including owning her master recordings and surpassing 1 billion views on YouTube. The UK recording artiste, who is signed to a subsidiary of Universal Records, recently visited her father’s hometown, Denham Town in St Andrew, where she has family members.
The Senseless singer was recently featured on TVJ Entertainment Report, where interesting facts about the entertainer’s life were shared, including her teenage son, Jaylen, not being allowed to have a phone. Stefflon was also revealed to be a fluent dutch speaker since she also grew up in Holland. As for her name, Stefflon Don told Anthony Miller that someone gave her the moniker. When asked about the type of sound she produces in music, she responded, “I feel like I’m just an artiste who creates, but, obviously, my sound stems from dancehall.”
The 16 Shots rapper shared that she feels there is an advantage to being a woman in the music industry since not many women do what she does, and even though there are some drawbacks, she remains focused on the positive. When asked about her views of being the Queen of Dancehall due to her unmatched numbers that statistically prove she is ahead of every other female dancehall artiste, Stefflon Don stressed that she did not want the title Queen of Dancehall.
She hailed Spice as the well-deserved Dancehall Queen, while she does several other genres. “I would not call myself Queen of Dancehall,” she stated while laughing. “Listen, Spice has that title, and so be it. She deserves it. She’s been in this game for a long time, since she was young, and she’s still killing it, so big up Spice.”
She went on to say that these are the moments she has dreamed of, and she is grateful for her accomplishments. She shared that dancehall remains big in the UK, especially with TikTok making dancehall music viral across the world. Where trap dancehall is concerned, she expressed that she welcomes it because “good music is good music.”
Despite raunchy dancehall music being not commercial, she explained that the numbers are still soaring because of the young people who enjoy the raunchy songs. As for the Jamaican artistes that are producing the music she loves, she pointed out Skillibeng, Skeng and Jahvillani. When it comes to appearances, Stefflon Don, who is always dressed fashionable, shared that she has to feel good in what she is wearing for her to go with it. She went on to reveal that she has intentions to have her breasts enhanced soon.
