A woman and her four children were found dead inside of their home in the New Road community, Clarendon on Tuesday morning. The police investigators are currently investigating their deaths and there has been one person of interest named who is the cousin of the deceased.
Reportedly, the deceased family were found with their throats slashed in the community of New Road, which is between Chapelton and May Pen.
The Corporate Communications Unit shared with Loop News that the four children consisted of three girls and one boy, but their ages have not yet been confirmed.
Member of Parliament for Clarendon North Central Robert Nesta Morgan also released a statement on the “very wicked tragedy” that has never been seen in the constituency.
In his statement, Morgan requested that the police left no stones unturned when hunting the criminal responsible for “this wicked act”.
According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s statistics, there was a 20% reduction in the number of murders committed this year in Clarendon. The reports show that 33 murders were committed in the parish since 2022 began when comparing the same time frame for last year.
Following this release, the Commissioner of Police Major General Anthony Anderson, and several senior police visited the community with reports of having identified one person of interest connected to the murders.
The person of interest is identified to be Rushane Barnett, who also goes by Jet. The 23-year-old male, whose the deceased woman’s cousin, is reportedly either from Wilson’s Run in Trelawny or Papine in St Andrew. Barnett is said to frequently visit Coco Piece Chapelton, Clarendon.
Anyone with information relating to Barnett’s whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stop at 311 or visit the nearest police station.
