‘The Ascent’; Architectural Concept for Jamaica’s Future Tallest Building Unveiled – See Pictures

A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for February of this year to begin construction on Jamaica’s tallest building, which will also be the tallest in the Caribbean.
The Ascent at the Oxford, Sheer Luxury is the name of the 27-story building to be built by Stratosphere Development Limited at 1B Oxford Road in St Andrew, Jamaica. Upon its completion, the building will surpass the nation’s current tallest building, the Jamaica Pegasus hotel, which has 17 stories.
In an Instagram post, StudiOH Core Limited unveiled some stunning visuals for the architectural concept of Jamaica’s future tallest building with the caption, “Revealing The Ascent…..multiple storeys of luxury residential, premium commercial, 5 star hotel with first world amenities and attractions. We are grateful for the opportunity to work with our client in making this pioneering project a reality.”
Through its attention to safety, Stratosphere Development has impressed the Jamaica Fire Brigade, the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA), the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC), and the National Water Commission, resulting in the construction’s approval.
The mega project is expected to be completed by the year 2024. There will be three high-end components of the development: a hotel, a residential area, and a commercial one. The developers will also build a massive two-block parking tower to address parking issues.
Littleton Shirley, CEO of Stratosphere Development Limited, stated in a press release in June, in relation to the approval, that at some future point, the building will be raised to 27 floors, a height of more than 250 feet.
In his statement, the CEO noted that the intention is not just to build the tallest building in Jamaica but also to transform New Kingston into a vibrant business environment that will attract worldwide investment.
