Speaking on The Fix Podcast, Matterhorn expressed that his problem with Bounty Killer is an ongoing issue that will never be resolved until the artiste has died. The Dutty Wine deejay appeared sceptical when presented with the notion that Bounty is one of the most loyal people in the industry.

He also shared that Bounty was his friend until he became a “Judas”. While he did not divulge the details of their dispute, Matterhorn said that the Seaview Gardens artiste earned the title because he betrayed a friend.

Further on during the interview, Matterhorn added that Bounty has taken credit for many of the artistes that he gave their big break.

“The mount a artiste weh me buss… When mi buss dem, dem don’t give mi credit… It hurts to know that you are giving the credit to the wrong person… Mi and Killa all war fi dat to. The mount a artiste weh me buss weh Bounty Killer teck my credit fah,” Matterhorn said.

The selector explained that there is nothing wrong with Bounty getting credit for his contribution to an artiste’s career, but they had excluded his contribution entirely.

In regards to the fallout between him and DJ Khaled, Matterhorn said that after helping the record producer during the early stages of his career, Khaled had turned his back on him. According to Matterhorn, a few years ago he asked Khaled to produce a song for him.

However, after Khaled agreed to do the project, Matterhorn said he proceeded to ignore his calls, though he was available to take the call of one of their mutual friends.

“Him gi mi him numba. Den a called him couple times and I don’t get him. Suh mi neva feel nuh way bout dat but den one-day mi deh by Jazzy and mi call him and him nuh ansa and den Jazzy call him and him ansa.” Matterhorn said.

He further expressed that he found it especially disrespectful because of how he had willingly assisted Khaled before his success in the music industry.

Matterhorn went on to discuss the state of Dancehall as well as the genre’s long history and the role of selectors. He also shared his opinion on who is the King of Dancehall.

Matterhorn said that the problem with the topic is the fact that fans and industry players have not accurately given the title over the years. According to the Goodas deejay, Beenie Man’s reign as king of Dancehall ended years ago.

“Beenie been di King of Dancehall and a claim the king fi umpteen years when actually hi was deposed as the king. Not dethroned, disposed… Because at the time when Beenie claim seh him a king, a Ellie (Elephant Man) a di king,” Matterhorn stated.

He went on to state that the crown has passed to multiple artistes over the years as they ruled their own era of Dancehall. In Matterhorn’s opinion, following the reign of Kartel and Popcaan, Masicka has now taken the throne.

“While one a di time when dem a seh Beenie a di king, a Vybz Kartel a di king… But di same ting weh reach Beenie Man reach Vybz Kartel now, Caw now unuh a seh Vybz Kartel a di King. Isn’t it safe to say that at one point, when unuh have Vybz Kartel as the king, Popcaan a di king… But the new king is Masicka.”
