Usain Bolt Discloses His Reason For Not Having Children Until His 30’s

Usain Bolt, after earning the title of “the fastest man alive”, is now living his life as a retired Olympian and father of three kids. He first fathered a child back in May 2020 when his daughter Olympia Lightning Bolt was born and then again with the birth of twin sons Saint Leo and Thunder Bolt in June of 2021. His girlfriend, Kasi Bennett, is the mother of all three children.

He retired in 2017 after making his indelible mark in history as a sprinting GOAT. According to Essentially Sports, Bolt did an interview with the Guardian at thirty where he stated that he was still in the process of considering whether or not he should have kids. Bolt said that kids require time and because they are so different from track and field he wants to ensure that he is completely ready before he makes a decision, but that he is also both nervous and excited at the prospect.

The reason the track and field superstar was not in any rush to have kids was also that he wanted to take his time to choose the partner that he would have and raise his children with. It is common practice for Jamaicans to have kids before they hit 30 but Bolt stated that his father had children with multiple women and he did not want that for himself so he preferred to wait until he found a suitable partner.

After having children, the eight-time Olympic gold medalist said that he has a newfound respect for fatherhood and he would follow his parent’s parenting style.
