Retired Olympic legend Usain Bolt is still grappling with the loss of millions of USD from 2023, following his involvement with the fraudulent investment firm Stocks and Securities Limited (SSL).
Bolt was one of more than 70 reported victims in a scheme involving tens of millions(USD) in fraud that spanned more than a decade. Being the most vocal of the victims, on Saturday morning, Bolt revealed the exact amount he lost, which is staggering.
On X, the 8th time Olympic gold medalist shared the figure believed to be in US dollars, “Twelve Million, Seven Hundred Fifty-Eight Thousand, One Hundred Eighty-One dollars and Seventy-Four Cents” ($12,758,181.74). It was also accompanied by a song, “What goes around comes around.”
This ongoing battle has seen Bolt hire legal representation to try to recover his funds, but the situation remains unresolved.
Earlier reports indicated that Bolt’s manager had discovered that SSL had been providing fraudulent statements, showing that Bolt’s reported US$12.7 million investment portfolio was intact, when in fact, it was not.
In a formal letter to SSL, Bolt’s attorneys confirmed the loss of over US$12 million in stocks and bonds. In 2023, they demanded that the money be returned within 10 days to avoid both civil and criminal action.
Nowadays, updates on the matter have been few and far.
