Dancehall artiste Vanessa Bling, formerly known as Gaza Slim, reflected on her time spent in jail on Friday, as the artiste acknowledged how hard it must have been for Vybz Kartel and his former co-accused.
Vanessa Bling rose to prominence in Dancehall as one of the members of the Gaza Empire, which at the time was helmed by Kartel. However, the young artiste’s rise was halted following the disappearance and presumed death of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams in 2011.
Kartel was arrested for his suspected involvement in the murder, and Vanessa Bling was also charged in connection with the case. On the heels of Andre ‘Madsuss’ St John, Shawn Storm, and Kartel’s release, Vanessa Bling reflected on her time spent in jail and the years before her charges were dropped.
“3 years and 9 months was taken away from me I remember like yesterday the feeling I got when I was free! and 13 years away from Kartel, Madsuss and Shawnstorm now they get to go home to their families again. One thing I know is life is the Greatest and God is real,” Vanessa Bling wrote.
Born Vanessa Saddler, the Everything Fi Hold Him artiste was arrested and charged in 2011 with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice in Williams’ murder case. It was alleged that she had falsely reported that she was robbed by Williams after the date of his reported death in order to help Kartel.
According to reports, Vanessa Bling was remanded for a month and nine days. The charges were later dropped in 2014 after Kartel filed to appeal his murder conviction.
