XXXTentacion Murder Suspects Found Guilty

Following the 2018 death of American rapper Jahseh Onfroy, professionally known as XXXTentacion, three of his accused killers (Dedrick Devonshay Williams, Michael Boatwright, and Trayvon Newsome) were found guilty of first-degree murder on Monday.

XXXTentacion was shot and killed on June 18 in an apparent robbery attempt in Broward County, Florida, after leaving a Deerfield Beach motorsports dealership. In surveillance footage shared in the trial in September 2018, XXXTentacion was seen sitting in his BMW when he was approached by two men, whom the prosecution alleges were Boatwright and Newsome.

According to reports, both men had jumped out of the passenger side of a black vehicle, which boxed in XXXTentacion’s car, then ran to the rapper’s car window and demanded his chain. XXXTentacion fought back, and Boatwright shot into the rapper’s car, killing the 20-year-old on the spot.

Boatwright and Newsome jumped back into their vehicle and fled the scene with XXXTentacion’s Louis Vuitton bag. A fourth man, Robert Allen, was in the getaway vehicle during the robbery. Prior to today’s verdict, Allen had pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and testified for the prosecution during the trial.
