Yohan Blake’s Restaurant to Proceed with Opening Despite Impending Hurricane
Jamaican sprinter Yohan Blake will proceed with opening his restaurant, The Butcher’s Barrell, on Tuesday despite an impending hurricane expected to make landfall in Florida this week.
Hurricane Helene devastated the counties of Florida, destroying businesses and homes and claiming more than 200 lives. Following the devastating effects of Helene, federal forecasters shared on Sunday that Tropical Storm Milton is expected to make landfall in Florida as a major hurricane by midweek this week.
Despite the expected bad weather, Blake is set to open The Butcher’s Barrel tomorrow in Oakland Park, Florida. Yesterday, the restaurant’s official page shared that they will be proceeding with the relaunch of the eatery under new ownership, “rain or shine.”
On Monday, Blake also announced that the relaunch will not be delayed, sharing several photos of the restaurant and a video during which he encouraged his supporters to join him tomorrow.
In a previous post, in which he announced the opening, the Olympic gold medallist shared that the journey to open the restaurant was full of challenges.
“It’s been a journey full of challenges, but with hard work and determination, I’m proud to finally be launching my restaurant venture on October 8th! This wasn’t easy, but nothing worth having ever is. I’m inviting you to come out and dine with me. Let’s celebrate this moment together. With good food and good vibes. I can’t wait to see you all there and share this experience with you!”
The Butcher’s Barrel is one of the multiple business endeavours Blake is currently participating in, as the opening follows the launch of his water brand Revierie Purified Water. He is also the owner of the Yohan Blake Rehab & Wellness Centre.
