30-Y-O Businesswoman Caught Smuggling Over $4-Million Worth Of Cocaine At Kingston Airport

Tashika Grant, a 30-year-old businesswoman from Worthington Terrace, Kingston 5 was arrested on Thursday at the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) for attempting to smuggle over JMD 4-million worth of cocaine to the United States.
Police reports state that at approximately 9 a.m., Grant checked in to board a flight from Kingston to Fort Lauderdale, Florida when routine security checks found approximately 1.05 kilograms of cocaine concealed on her body. It reportedly has an estimated street value of US$30,000 or J$4,512,519.00.
She was subsequently arrested and charged with breaches of the Dangerous Drug Act.
Following a question and answer interview in the presence of Grant’s attorney on Friday, detectives assigned to the Narcotics Police Division charged her with possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine, attempting to export cocaine, and conspiracy to export cocaine.
She is scheduled to appear in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Wednesday, September 7.
