On Monday a boy who was only four years old and his mother were shot dead by unknown criminals while they were at home in Top Hill district, Retirement, in St James.

The victims of the crime were identified as Shelly Ann Shaw, and Jemar Powell.
Reports from the St James police are that gunmen opened fire on the house they were in at about 3:50 am. When the shooting ended, 42-year-old Shaw and her son, Jemar, were found but they had gunshot wounds. When they were taken to the hospital, they died while they were getting attention to.
An investigation is being conducted by the Area 1 Major Investigation Division.
