There were 52 guns hidden in barrels labelled as groceries and clothing. As reported by the Jamaica Gleaner, the seized shipment included 50 assorted pistols and two rifles, alongside 2,992 rounds of ammunition and 61 magazines.

Additionally, Customs officers found components to modify and assemble weapons: one rifle barrel, two rifle buttstocks, one rifle grip, a rifle front sight post, 12 rifle accessories, four pistol slides, and three pistol lower receivers.

The Firearm Narcotics Investigations Division of the Jamaica Constabulary Force is now probing the matter to identify those behind the shipment. The weapons were found in 5 barrels shipped from The United States.

The discovery, made during routine checks last Wednesday, highlights the ongoing threat of arms trafficking to Jamaica.
