59 Guns Found at Montego Bay’s Freeport Wharf – Watch Video

In a joint operation by the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), Jamaica Customs, and a few other local and international partners, the authorities were able to seize 59 guns at the Freeport wharf today. The arsenal of weapons consisted of fifty-four (54) handguns and five (5) rifles.

The find also incorporated a mixture of 101 rounds of ammunition.

The gun find was described as an intelligence-driven operation that saw the previously mentioned collaborators working congruently to get the job done. The relevant authorities have recently been making enormous finds at the island’s ports, including drugs and other weapons.

In the recent video, officers can be seen loading boxes of the illegal firearms into vehicles so they can be transported.

According to a JCF representative, they were able to intercept these elusive illegal trafficking activities due to their efforts to strengthen relationships between the police and other relevant entities. He also mentioned that law enforcers are nourishing and building up their intelligence capabilities in order to curtail these criminal activities.

The representative made notes that the investigation into the gun find is still ongoing, and he believes that with the information they have garnered, it will lead to the arrest and charging of the persons related to it.

He went further to urge the public to give information about illegal firearms so they can be acquired by law enforcement officers. The representative took the opportunity to commend the participants who aided in the successful capture of the weapons and implored them to continue in their efforts to make the nation safer.
