The mother, identified by the pseudonym Latoya to protect her identity, disclosed that she is a victim of rape herself and is very concerned for her daughter. According to Latoya, the child has not been eating or sleeping well since the incident that allegedly took place on March 11.

Latoya says her daughter was approached by the boy after school while she was waiting for her driver. The boy, whom her daughter had never met before, then took her away to an empty classroom where the incident reportedly happened.

“… The little boy asked her, ‘Has anyone ever touched you on your vagina before?’ and she said, ‘No,” and then after that he dragged my child. So he dragged the child and then took her to a classroom that is far away where no one could see him, and he opened the door and the grill and took her in there,” Latoya said.

According to the mother, the school has CCTV footage of the boy taking her daughter to the classroom. The footage reportedly also shows the 6-year-old running away from the room minutes after.

The alleged assault was reported to the Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA). The young girl told a CISOCA representative that the boy assaulted her and only agreed to let her go after she promised not to tell anyone what happened.

Latoya further disclosed that during a meeting with the boy, his parents, school representatives, and the police, he admitted to pulling her daughter away. The boy reportedly said that he heard the child talking about sex with her friends and pulled her away to teach her about good touch and bad touch.

After reporting the incident, Latoya said a CISOCA representative suggested that nothing much would be done, as her child and the accused are both minors.

“… That person basically told me that nothing much would become of this situation because they’re both minors. That was what being said to me, so I felt some type of way because, you know, you’re going there to get justice. Everybody keeps referring me to CISOCA. So for them to say something like that, I feel a bit, you know, emotional,” Latoya said.

Latoya went on to state that the boy admitted to previously doing the same thing to another child. She also expressed dissatisfaction with the school’s handling of the incident.

Latoya shared that Jessie Ripoll Primary have only taken minor disciplinary action against the 11-year-old.

“…They told me that he will need counselling. They will put him in black and white, and they will have somebody monitoring him, and he’s not allowed to do extra lesson,” Latoya said.

The concerned mother has since removed her daughter from the school.
