668 Pounds of lobster SEIZED in Westmoreland

The Jamaica Constabulary Force reports that, Marine Police seized 668 pounds of lobster in Bluefields, Westmoreland two days ago. Lobsters that live in the water surrounding Jamaica starts their breeding season every year in late Spring, early Summer hence lobster catching season is closed annually from April 1st to June 30th.
The six men who were aboard the vessel where the large marine crustaceans were found were subsequently arrested and charged under the Fisheries Act for the offence of Possession of Lobster in Closed Season.
Some persons are glad for the arrests, explaining that this will stop others from exploiting the sea creatures which will in return cause damage to ecosystems, other persons are questioning what is going to happen to the 600 pounds of lobster seized.
