8yo Boy, 3 Females Among Victims of Clarendon Mass Shooting, Police Give Update: Video

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) disclosed on Monday that a 1-year-old infant is currently among the ten injured victims that remain hospitalised after yesterday’s mass shooting in Clarendon that has been likened to domestic terrorism.
Following the mass shooting, the JCF has launched a high-level investigation into the murders. Head of the Crime and Security Portfolio, Deputy Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey, has since provided an update on the shooting.
According to Bailey, the victims were assembled at a car wash in Cherry Tree Lane at around 9 p.m. The residents were engaged in a game of bingo when they were approached by a group of armed men who began firing on them.
“A group of men approached and opened fire, killing eight people, including an eight-year-old boy and three females. Nine persons, including a 1-year-and-nine-months-old baby, were shot and injured and are at the hospital,” Bailey stated.
Bailey went on to compare the mass shooting to an act of terrorism, which was carried out to instil fear. “It was an unfortunate and brutal incident. One that I think borders on terrorism because I think this act is to instil fear and intimidate the community.”
The deputy commissioner further stated that the police are committed to ensuring that justice is done and will be using all their resources to ensure that the perpetrators are found.
Bailey, who shared his update via the JCF Instagram page this morning, added that the investigation is still in its early stages as the crime scene is being processed. As such, he said he could not provide any further details at this time.
