A 91-year-old Jamaican who was a former cop and got shot twice in the past says after watching the 86th People’s National Party conference on Sunday, he is ready to go home.
Amongst the festivities was Vybz Kartel, something many Jamaicans are not happy with.
After giving a lengthy speech about being born in the 1930s and moving to Kingston from Westmoreland at a young age, the elderly man named Desmond highlighted the violence in Jamaica in the 1970s and the 80s.
He went on to call the names of several gangsters who made their names in the 70s and 80s and expressed that while those gangsters were popular, they never took a stand on the podium. “What happened at the national arena yesterday… i know it is the festering of an ulcer to break out,” he declared.
“Seeing Kartel on the podium yesterday…. his presence on the podium let me feel nervous, a feel like I’m ready to go home to mi makers, as i tell you it’s a fester,” according to Desmond It’s the returning of gangster’s having a foothold in the country’s affairs.
“It is what happened in the 70s… I am feeling very dissatisfied and uncomfortable of what i saw yesterday,” he expressed before stating that the endeavour ‘scares’ him.
The lengthy speech by Desmond was made on Monday during a discussion on Nationwide with radio personality Cliff Hughes who is also unhappy with Vybz Kartel being endorsed by the PNP.
