Jamaica Set to Start Testing for Novel Coronavirus(COVID-19) Soon

Dr. Jacqueline Bissasor-McKenzie who’s a Chief Medical Officer revealed that next week, Jamaica should be testing for the novel coronavirus.

She says the training will start today for the health professionals in Jamaica; and in the interim, the tests are being done at the Caribbean Public Health Agency, CARPHA and the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, CDC.

Dr. Bernadette Theodore Ghandi, the PAHO/WHO representative for Jamaica, says Jamaica is in a unique position to help the region with the testing for the novel coronavirus.

She also said the region has been taking the needed precautionary measures to prevent the deadly virus from infecting anyone. 

 Dr. Bernadette Theodore- Gandi, PAHO/WHO Representative to Jamaica and Dr. Jacqueline Bissasor- McKenzie, the Chief Medical Officer were both speaking on Monday at the media briefing for the novel coronavirus in Kingston, Jamaica.
