End Covid-19 compiled data from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and John Hopkins University, before they listed the Caribbean islands among the 32 countries that seem to have done exceptionally well to control the spread of the covid-19, as they are close to a gradual flattening of the infection curve.

To completely control the virus, new cases per day must be at zero. On the map, some countries are either at that point or very close to it. Other countries are approaching that point within a reasonable time frame they are seeing a rapid decrease in the number of new cases per day.

The countries that are not doing well are either going the wrong way, staying constant, or going down very slowly. The coalition noted when the classification was explained.

The group revealed that, on their chart some yellow curves seem to be similar to green curves, when the total numbers of new cases per day are compared, this will often explain the differences in classification.

They used the caseload from Friday, February 21, to Monday, May 11, and they praised the 32 countries including Jamaica who were doing the best job, for keeping their daily new cases of the novel coronavirus low over time, using a 10-day average.

Among those who are closes to ending covid-19, End Coronavirus listed Andorra, Australia, Austria, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, Croatia, Cuba, Djibouti, Estonia, Greece, Iceland, Jamaica, Jordan, Kosovo, Latvia, Lebanon, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Mauritius, Monaco, Montenegro, New Zealand, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Tunisia and Vietnam.

The group sprang into action in late February, according to its website, and compiled several actions for countries to win the fight against COVID-19.

Now the group has listed 25 countries as those that are “almost there” in flattening the curve, and 29 countries include the United Kingdom and the United States are the nations that “need to take action” to reduce the spread of the pandemic.

End Coronavirus revealed that, “this set of countries is certainly not an exhaustive list, but we do highlight the countries which we find to be interesting or important in some way. These lists will be changing over time, and are being updated every few days.”

End Coronavirus in its first recommendation, asked countries to act quickly, to isolate the infected persons, set strict travel restrictions, undergo widespread testing, impose mandatory face mask protocols for the public, practice social distancing as much as possible.

The group consists of approximately 4,000 scientists, community organizers, citizens and business owners makeup End Coronavirus, the group noted that it developed an “effective, community-based solutions in order to end the pandemic.”

“Reopening too early causes countries to run the risk of triggering exponential growth again. This might erase all of the benefits gained from the lock down. It could increase the total amount of deaths, overwhelming the medical system, and create a scenario where another lockdown is necessary,” the group explained.
