Omi’s Cheerleader Surpasses A Billion Views On Youtube and Becomes Most Searched Song On Shazam

Jamaican singer and songwriter, OMI whose real name is Omar Samuel Pasley, is still seeing humongous success with his hit track “Cheerleader”, as it recently reached 1 billion YouTube views and also became the most searched song on the Shazam App.

Shazam is an app that allows people to search for songs that they do not know the names for, but have heard before.

Initially, the song was at the number 19 spot on the app in 2014 when the remix was launched with Felix Jaehn. That has however changed to this date, as there has been no other song people loved to search for on Shazam like “Cheerleader”.

The official video was created in 2015 after the original track was recorded in 2012. The official video was shot on OMI’s first trip to the United States and now stands at a billion views on YouTube.

The ” Cheerleader” artiste started his career in the parish of Kingston when he met Clifton Dillon, otherwise known as Specialist, who had him signed to an independent recording label by the name of “Outfah”.

The Cheerleader song was a sure hit in Jamaica, Hawaii, and Dubai however the song gained ten times its success due to the remix.

OMi is a native of Clarendon Jamaica, and has other songs such as ” Standing on all threes”, “Fireworks” and “Take it easy” that
continues to do well.

If songs were classified as folk heroes, “Cheerleader” would be one of them, as it unexpectedly became one of the biggest international songs of all time, forever changing the life of a young man.
