3 of the Women Arrested for Kaylan’s Beating Released on Bail
17-year-old Kaylan Dowdie who was attacked and beaten badly by several females in St. Andrew last year is still in the hospital holding on to her life while on the other hand three of the females who were arrested and charged for the attack were released on bail today March 18th after being locked up for four months.
Top Jamaican lawyer, Queen’s Counsel, Peter Champagnie is currently representing the females that were released and disclosed that the three females are out on 850k bond. The females were released with restrictions which include turning over their travel documents and reporting to a police station daily.
This news did not sit well with Kaylan’s mother Veneshia Buckley who told CVM news that it’s unfair that her daughter is still in the hospital while the attackers get to go home “you are going home… when will my child go home” she asked, furthermore, Kaylan’s hospital expenses are not being covered by any of the attackers she reminded the news reporter.
The matter is set for mention in court in a few months time on June 16, 2021. Learn more from the news report below.
In a recent update Buckley explained that Kaylan is talking however it’s with her lips and she of to read them, she also has memory lost which was expected.
Next Kaylan’s mother is looking to get her in a good rehabilitation centre that can accommodate a ventilation system and in most cases the best options are abroad because the ones her in Jamaica don’t have the right equipments.
She wrote “Please….we are asking the public to assist in finding a rehabilitation centre that can accommodate a ventilation system for KAYLAN to aid in her recovery. God bless you and thanks again for all your support, your prayers and any assistance you have offered. We love”.
