Tommy Lee Sparta gets 3 Year Prison Sentence

The case for dancehall star Leroy Russell more popular known as Tommy Lee Sparta took place today and according to reports from the Jamaica Gleaner, the Mobay artiste was handed a total of 5 years in prison with three years being for possession of an illegal gun while he was given two years for illegal ammunition.

This means that Tommy Lee will spend an expected three years in prison with both sentences running concurrently.

Tommy Lee was represented by Tom ‘Queen’s Counsel’ Tavares Finson and 2 other lawyers, it’s unclear what will be the lawyers next step however no news of appeal so far.

According to Police reports the deejay was travelling in a motor vehicle along Holborn Rd in St Andrew, on December 14 when the vehicle was stopped and searched by members of the JCF Specialised operations unit and a firearm was found in his waistband. The deejay was charged the following day.

Tommy Lee was earlier locked-up on July 7 2020, then released months later after he became a person of interest, back then the artiste’s name had been attached to the upsurge in violence in Flankers Montego Bay. He was released August 17 of 2021 and his former lawyer Ernest Smith threatened to sue the police after they locked him up without charges.

Tommy Lee is now expected to be released sometime in 2024.
