Champs’ Gun Gesture Defended by Buju Banton and Spragga Benz

Eighteen-year-old Petersfield High School’s Antonio Watson bolted through the finish line of the 200-meter race at the recently held ISSA/Grace Kennedy Boys and Girls Championships. As he past the Edwin Allen competitor, Watson made an inappropriate gun gesture with his outstretched hand. This gesture has since been the topic of many debates across several media platforms with persons divided on the action.

Veteran Jamaican Dancehall artistes, the Gargamel and Spragga Benz have come to the defence  of the sprinter, pointing out that Prince Harry had made the similar gesture to his cousin at  a polo match. Buju Banton captioned the photo of Prince Harry with the gun gesture, with “Hypocrites”, following up in the comments saying “Weep you haters of truth. No lies can prosper”. The “Where You come from” singer, went on to further defend the young sprinter, asserting his position of support of Watson, stating that he stands with his own and not the Prince. He shared that he sees those who oppose the young Jamaican as pagans.

Spragga Benz added, “His Royal Badness …wonder if dancehall music him a listen”, as if to shade the recent talks that Dancehall music was causing a surge in the country’s violence.
