Jamaican Woman Killed In New Jersey Mass Shooting

A 25-year-old Jamaican woman by the name of Asia Hester, alongside a 30-year-old man identified as Kevin Elliot, was the sad victims of a mass shooting that took place in New Jersey. Reports are that Hester who is a healthcare staffer, who moved from Jamaica to the states, was shot at a birthday barbecue held at Southern Fairfield Township in Cumberland County New Jersey.

Apart from the two deceased persons, 12 other individuals were wounded in the incident. According to the reports, the shooting occurred as a result of a gang war, that was ongoing in the area for some time. Persons who are aware of the turf war has expressed that Elliot who was also shot dead might have been a Target.

According to the US-based media Outlet that brought the news, a man by the name of Kevin Dawkins is now the prime suspect in the case. He was arrested on Commerce Street in Bridgeton New Jersey about the shooting.

The state of New Jersey’s Attorney General, Gurbir Grewal expressed that this shooting must have been a targeted hit. On the scene of the crime, hundreds of people were present, and several firearms were recovered.

Asia was known to be a very hard worker by many, who graduated from Rowan College then went directly into Healthcare. Family members of the deceased woman are now very saddened by the occurrence, and her sister who spoke to the news Outlet said she did not deserve what happened to her.

Other family members and friends are currently mourning the death of Asia, some posting their last words to their beloved on Facebook expressing how much they loved her and have been impacted by her passing.
