L.A. Lewis Granted Bail for $30,000

Horace ‘L.A.’ Lewis appeared on a bench warrant in the St Catherine Parish Court yesterday, and he was offered $30,000 bail.

Lewis and his co-accused are charged with breaching the (DRMA) the Disaster Risk Management Act. The bench warrant was executed on him at the Spanish Town Police Station after he was held on Sunday in the town centre in Spanish Town. 

He was ordered by Judge Monique Harris, to return to court on Wednesday September 7, when the matter will be mentioned again.

He was initially brought before the court in October of 2020 because he breached the COVID-19 protocols.

Horace had failed to return to court after he attended on two occasions, this caused the court to issue a bench warrant for his arrest.

However, he labelled his arrest as an act of kidnapping, because he is the self-declared paramount chief and high priest of the Nyan-Ko-Pong Maroons and he was simply distributing food to needy individuals in the town.
